I just love going back to the old building at 406 S. Mulberry-ya never know what you're gonna find! Last night I went looking for something we needed and found more old reels, one of which has the sign on and off of WIEL!
Needless to say, I dubbed these and the've found their way to the home page of WIEL Information Radio! These were obviously before WIEL went 24 hrs.
If anyone has an idea who the voice was, by all means let us know so we can share both it and our thanks to you on the site!!

Okay, input from staffers overwhelmingly put the voice of the sign on/off cart added today with that of former GM Ken Trimble. Cigars to Mike Marvin, Bob Craft and Scott Goettel!

Along with the above mentioned reel, I also found two reels of jingles, one of the two PAMS reels I had on CD and is already on the website (April 1979) and the other one has been uploaded on the Jingles page and is from June 1975. And rounding out the 'find' is two reels of old radio shows...goodies indeed...nothing related to WIEL, but there are several old radio shows!

Starting this week will be a new weekly feature appearing only at www.1400wiel.com. The Way We Were will be featuring slices of radio Americana from as far back as the Golden Age of Radio. Blazing the path will be a 4 minute excerpt from Dick Curtis' "Cavalcade of Music" and in particular an interview with radio show pioneer Chuck Webster. Enjoy!

Finally going through Ron's folders on consignment from his wife Judy in search of material worthy of sharing on this website...DUH! ...anyway, much has been found and will be shared very soon. Also as soon as I secure a reel player with the proper speed, the floodgates of Ron's World will be shared as well...and you will ONLY be able to get that here! Thanks, Judy!
